Brand New Day - SSATBaB (a capella) Level 3 An a capella pop/jazz treatment of the cool song by Sting, featuring a major solo for a high tenor or an alto. The chart has a strong 12/8 groove throughout, and a moderate amount of reharmonization, although the jazziest element of the arrangement is in its voicings, which go beyond standard pop triadic harmony. Still, this one is approachable and fun! Commissioned by Kirkwood Community College (2007)

KERRY MARSH is the Director of Vocal Jazz at California State University, Sacramento. He received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Kansas and a master's degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. He was the director of the UNT Jazz Singers II and sang in the UNT Jazz Singers under the direction of Paris Rutherford. He also sang for six years in the University of Kansas choirs under the direction of Simon Carrington, a founding member of the acclaimed King's Singers. Kerry was the winner of a 2003 Down Beat Student Music Award for Best College Jazz Arrangement. Marsh is an active vocal jazz clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States; and is a member of IAJE and ASCAP.
