(Level IV) Taken from two movements of Paul Winter's Mass for the Earth, this arrangement is a unique "world music" feature for any vocal jazz or contemporary a Capella ensemble. It opens with a lush harmonization of a traditional plainsong melody, then quickly changes to Native American chant over an Afro-Brazilian vocalese groove. Recorded by UNC's Et Cetera on Hot XII.

BRAD REES currently serves as Director of Choral Activities at Tiffin University in Ohio, and is an active vocal jazz educator, clinician, arranger and performer. He has served as Assistant Director of Jazz Studies at UNC, where he directed Et Cetera and Vocal Jazz I, and performed as a member of UNC's Axidentals. He also taught vocal jazz and recording studio production at the School for Music Vocations at Iowa's Southwestern Community College, and was the founder and director of the Jazz Voxtet at Geroge Mason University in Virginia.
