(8 Brass) An original composition based on the changes to the classic Cherokee. It is in a double-time samba feel which shifts into a fast swing for 32 bars. The saxophone parts are a bit high, but playable. The rhythms are a bit tricky, and if desired, could be simplified somewhat.

JAMES GREESON is the Director of the Jazz Studies Program at the University of Arkansas where he also teaches music theory and guitar. His jazz charts have been performed at the Telluride Jazz Festival and Clark Terry Jazz Camp. He holds a doctorate in music composition from the University of Wisconsin. He has performed as a jazz guitarist with Rob McConnell, Ed Soph and Gary Foster.
