(Level III) Naima (John Coltrane arr. by Eero Koivistoinen) This arrangement of Coltrane classic was made for Dave Liebman with UMO Jazz Orchestra. Dave Liebman has recorded this with James Madison University Jazz Ensemble and is using the chart with different big bands. UMO Jazz Orchestra recorded it as well on Naxos Jazz label (Transit People) 86067-2 The rhythmic concept is between even 1/8's and 12/8's The soloists are piano and tenor sax. 8 Brass

(Level IV) ARCTIC BLUES The composition starts in rubato with bluesy comments. Then a slow minor blues melody and a guitar solo. After guitar is an orchestral tremolo with an unisono trombone / bass melody . Next comes a double tempo shuffle section with a tenor sax solo. After sax solo follows an orchestral tutti with bluesy comments. Then a bass solo. The composition ends with the slow blues melody like in the beginning. MP3 performed by UMO Jazz Orchestra. 8 Brass
