(Level 3) This was written specifically to give each member of the choir a chance to make up their own blues head with lyrics (usually comedic) with the 12-bar poetic blues format (question, question, answer). Roger composed an original blues head that sets the stage for individual solos, and then provided an open solo section during which each singer can deliver his or her Holiday Blues message. The solo section modulates to set up a Basie-like return to the head where the choir sings tutti to bring it to a big finish. A very fun chart! SATB with rhythm.
