Twenty Four - (Level IV) Twenty Four is a sensitive trumpet feature in memory of UNC Charlotte student Casey Blackwelder. The chart starts with a brief chorale, which is followed by an introduction which sets up the song form, in a straight-eighth note, modern jazz feel. The beautiful melody is stated by a balance of solo trumpet and ensemble, with an extended improvised solo section with backgrounds. The piece ends with a vamp that builds in intensity, followed by a brief rubato conclusion. (8 Brass)
