Description About the Composer

9 Brass (Level IV) Originally written for the Tyler Community College Jazz Ensemble, The Color of Her Hair is a medium, mysterious samba that explores a single melodic motif and it’s expressive qualities. This tune has a magnetic and flowing quality to it, and primarily features the tenor sax and guitar as soloists. The UNT 2 O’ Clock Lab Band’s recording is different from the written score, but in only very small ways. This piece makes a fine middle piece in a program, and works for high school ensembles and professional groups alike
