Get 'em While They're Hot is in a moderately fast, even-8ths fusion style. Guitar 1 carries the theme throughout with Guitar 2 harmonizing. Guitar 3 is a chordal part, Guitar 4 plays an ostinato, and Guitar 5 reinforces the bass, playing another ostinato. Snare drum is played on the rim much of the time. The solo section for Guitar 1 and 2 is of fixed length and invites outside playing. It begins sparsely and becomes progressively busier and louder. Written for 5 guitars, bass and drums.

JON GRIER holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kalamazoo College, a Master of Music Degree in Composition from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Music Degree in Theory and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of South Carolina where he studied with Dick Goodwin and Sam Douglas. Jon has taught Advanced Placement music theory and music history at the Greenville Fine Arts Center, a magnet school of the arts in Greenville, SC, since 1988; he composes frequently for student and faculty ensembles at the Fine Arts Center. Jon has also been a writer/keyboardist with the jazz-fusion ensemble, Oracle, since 1984.
