(8 Brass) Composed for the Johns Hopkins University Jazz Ensemble, this composition begins as a gentle "Martian" tango featuring a sentimental melody in the soprano saxophone. The baritone saxophone is then featured in a duet with the drums. An open blowing section follows where the performers are encouraged to create their own backgrounds or collectively improvise. Scales and chords are provided in every part. Afterwards, a fast section commences with fleeting references to Beautiful Dreamer leading to a 14-bar minor blues featuring the guitar. The chart concludes with a brief return to the opening tango. 5 Saxes (SATTB), 8 Brass, 4 Rhythm.

Multi-instrumentalist/composer Matt Belzer has a diverse musical life. In addition to his numerous creative projects, he is a very active freelance musician, regularly performing on woodwinds at the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, and numerous theaters and concert halls in the region. As a result, he has performed with numerous artists including Smokey Robinson, CeeLo Green, Jewel, Chaka Khan, Barry Manilow, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Bernadette Peters, and Vanessa Hudgens. He has been honored by Downbeat magazine, the Jazz Composers Alliance and the Maryland State Arts Council. Most recently, he has completed a commission for the flute section of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. He is the Director of Jazz Studies at UMBC where he directs the jazz ensemble, teaches the jazz courses, teaches saxophone, and collaborates with faculty and students.
