(Level 2) This Christmas classic is performed in three sections in this arrangement. The first section is performed a cappella once through the entire song form. The second section dives into a forceful reharmonized version with rhythm section. After this the tune opens for soloing and trading 4's and 8's instrumentally. The middle section ends with the cymbal ringing and vocalists return to the purity of a cappella singing. This arrangement requires much part independence and stability of pitch especially from section to section. Vocals use scat syllables throughout the piece. SATB with rhythm section.

SHARON BROADLEY was the lead vocalist and principal composer/arranger for the Boston-based vocal group, The Ritz. She has performed at the Sea-Jazz Festival in Helsinki, the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada, the Newport Jazz Festival in Madarao, Japan and the Jazz A Vienne Festival with the Count Basie Orchestra in France to name a few. Sharon has recorded six albums: Flying (1989), The Spirit of Christmas (1989), Movin' Up (1988), The Ritz-Live to Two Trac (1987), Born to Bop (1985) and Steppin' Out (1984). She was a featured clinician at the 1985 NAJE Convention in Atlanta, Georgia and has since been adjudicating and preparing fresh, exciting material for clinics around the country.
