LES SABINA is currently teaching jazz studies and theory/composition at St. Bonaventure University in New York State. He received his Master of Music degree in Studio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Michigan State University. In addition to being past recipient of a composition grant from the Canada Council, Sabina has also won composition competitions sponsored by the International Association of Jazz Educators and the Performing Rights Organization of Canada. As a saxophonist, Sabina has performed with J.C. Heard, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Billy Eckstine, The Temptations and others in the Detroit area.
