Description About the Composer

(Level IV) Arranged in ballad style for jazz or church choir with improvising jazz soloist plus jazz piano, bass, and drums, Duke Ellington’s affirmation comes to life in this setting written for the Alice Millar Chapel Choir at Northwestern University. The jazz harmonies within require chromatic ears of the vocalists, and the soloist may be instrumental or vocal. The choir sings in traditional, “straight” eighth notes except for seven measures of ballad swing. Full score, choral score, rhythm section parts, a rehearsal piano part, plus soloist parts transposed for C Treble, C Bass, Bb, Eb, and F are included. A stirring statement on any day of the week. SATB w/ Rhythm
