Description About the Composer

(Level III) A contemporary suspended-time swing groove gives this chart its unique sound. An angular melody features flugelhorn and soprano sax, while lead tenor blows over an emotional climax via an additive-counterpoint section in the style of Kenny Wheeler. Though the notes are not difficult, this tune presents more of a conceptual challenge. Requires a mature rhythm section to discover its subtleties. 9 Brass
