The Good Fight - (Level IV) 8 Brass - A groove-oriented composition in 7/4 with plenty of rhythmic interest and exciting harmonic twists. A minimalist-style intro sets the tone for a catchy melody which is brought to a close by a heroic recurring high note in the brass and electric guitar. After a solo section for electric guitar, the saxes play a rhythmic soli that builds to a climax. The band drops out and a syncopated drum solo vamp reminiscent of “Jazz Crimes” gradually builds into a powerful and exciting shout section. This high energy composition makes a great closer. Performed by the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors at the 2019 Jazz Education Network Young Composers Showcase.
