(Level IV) A hard swinger in an up-tempo 3/4, which is based on the changes to Bob Berg's 24-bar blues piece Friday Night at the Cadillac Club. Tenor sax is featured on the solo. The bones get to work out with the rhythm section in a funk groove, which precedes a straight-ahead soli section where it's "bones to the wall." The following shout chorus should keep everybody in the ensemble awake. Alto I on soprano throughout. 9 Brass

CHRIS CULVER directs jazz ensembles and teaches music theory and composition at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. He has appeared as a guest soloist, clinician and adjudicator at many high school and college jazz festivals throughout the United States. Culver received his Bachelor of Music degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and both his master's and doctorate in music theory and composition from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. Dr. Culver also has compositions published by the International Trombone Association Manuscript Press and Kagarice Brass Editions.
