(Level 3) This chart offers a fresh and challenging interpretation of Freddie Hubbard's original tune including lyrics by Abbey Lincoln. The arrangement features soprano and alto along with improvised solos by flugelhorn and piano. In addition, there is a Freddie Hubbard flugelhorn solo that was transcribed from his album, Backlash, and arranged as a vocal soli. A vamp is utilized in the closing section where counterpoint plays a significant role. SAATB or SATB with flugelhorn, piano, bass and drums.

RACHEL STECKLER is a composer and arranger. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. While there, she studied big band and small group writing with Paris Rutherford. She then pursued a master's degree from the University of Miami as a participant in the Studio Jazz Writing Program under the direction of Gary Lindsay. She also studied jazz composition with Ron Miller. After a successful completion of the master's program, she acquired experience writing for small and large jazz ensembles, symphony orchestra, vocal ensembles and string quartets. Rachel was one of four composers chosen nationwide to participate at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, California.
