ALAN BAYLOCK holds the position of Staff Arranger with the United States Air Force Band in Washington D. C. and is the chief arranger for the Air Force's premier jazz ensemble, the Airmen of Note. He is also active as a freelance composer, arranger, instrumentalist, clinician and adjudicator as well as the leader of the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra. His music has been performed by jazz artists Freddie Hubbard, Michael Brecker, Maynard Ferguson, James Moody, David Liebman, Randy Brecker, Mike Mainieri, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Berg, Conrad Herwig; country music legends Roy Clark and Janie Fricke; pop stars Chaka Khan and Kenny Rankin; and various symphony orchestras. Baylock's music has been recorded by Maynard Ferguson and Big Bop Nouveau, the Airmen of Note, the Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra, and by numerous professional and collegiate performing ensembles including the University of North Texas One O'Clock Lab Band. Alan is a 1990 graduate of Shenandoah University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree and earned a master's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 1995.
