(10 Brass) This piece is written in the style of the modern Miles Davis fusion sound, as exemplified by the albums Decoy and You're Under Arrest. It features trombone and tenor in a small group statement of the tune that builds to high - powered intensity. After two solo sections, (one fusion, one straight-ahead) there is an explosive soli section where the brass alternate John Scofield-like statements with drums and percussion fills.

STEVE WIEST received his undergraduate degree in jazz studies from the University of Southern Mississippi, after which he performed for four years as featured trombonist/composer/arranger with the Maynard Ferguson Band. Upon leaving Maynard, he went on to receive his Master of Music degree from North Texas State University, where he wrote for and played in the One O'Clock Lab Band. Steve has taught at the University of Texas at Arlington and is now Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.
