(Level IV) Crystal Mansion - Alternating between ECM straight 8 th and samba styles, this thought provoking original work starts with a noteworthy piano figure, then utilizes many colors and textures as it takes the listener on a journey through smooth melodies, sudden bursts of full ensemble power, delicate woodwind lines, metric changes, and more. For added appeal, acoustic guitar can be used on the effective written lines and chord voicings provided. All members of the ensemble have challenging and interesting parts to play. Solo space is provided for soprano and tenor sax. This Jeff Jarvis original appears on the Cal State Long Beach Concert Jazz Orchestra recording “Great Northern Express”. 8 Brass
