Description About the Composer

(7 Brass) A feature ballad for lead alto reminiscent of those written by Duke Ellington for saxophonist Johnny Hodges. The arrangement features arranging techniques and harmonic concepts from Ellington's later period. Playable by either high school or college jazz ensembles, but requires an alto saxophonist with a robust upper register and sound. Written for 7 brass, 5 saxes, bass, drums and optional piano.
