(Level 5) This tune features alto solo with choir back up. Choir parts are not too difficult but give the effect of jazz band shouts. There is also a section for solos (piano or voice) immediately followed by the ensemble singing a chorus of How High the Moon and then back into solo and ensemble back up. PETER TAYLOR has been involved with the Jazz choir movement since its inception in Canada in 1974 at Carson Graham Secondary School. In 1980, he joined the faculty at Vancouver Community College as a part-time instructor in the vocal jazz area and was promoted to full-time instructor in 1990. Peter is currently teaching music for School District #47, the Powell River Academy of Music and at Malaspina-University College. He is an accomplished composer/arranger, particulary well-known for his writing in the area of vocal jazz. Commercial ventures have included serving as choral arranger for the Coca Cola World Chorus at the Calgary Winter Olympics. Mr. Taylor has been an adjudicator/clinician at many festivals, provincial and national competitions/conferences throughout Canada and the United States. He is co-founder of the British Columbia Vocal Jazz Festival, past board member of the Canadian Choral Committee for Music Fest Canada and is on the board of the Pacific Coast Music Festivals Association. He is also founder of the Soundwave Vocal Jazz Summer Workshop, the Vancouver Community College Invitational Music Festival, the Vocal Jazz Summit in Powell River and founder and president of the West Coast Jazz and Blues Society. Peter's ensembles have achieved international acclaim and have been invited to perfrom at many national and international events.
