STEPHEN R. ANDERSON is both a composer and a pianist and currently an instructor in Jazz Studies and Composition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in composition at Brigham University , a Master of Music in composition from the University of North Texas and is currently ABD (doctoral candidate) in composition at the University of North Texas. As a composer, Anderson's works have been commissioned and/or performed by a variety of artists and ensembles. He has composed in a variety of styles and mediums including works for orchestra and wind symphony, jazz big band, a number of chamber ensembles and solos, a film score broadcast nationally on PBS as well as electro-acoustic works for digital media. As a pianist, Anderson currenlty plays and has recorded with the Lynn Seaton Trio and previously played with the One O'clock Lab Band (Lab 2001). He served as house pianist at the International Trombone Festival (2002) accompanying Jiggs Whigham, Bones Malone and Bill Reichenbach. Mr. Anderson has had many other accompanying and freelance experiences during his career. Forthcoming recordings: The Lynn Seaton Trio compact disc will be released in November 2005 by Nagel Heyer Records.
