(8 Brass) Medium-tempo swing. An unusually sophisticated sound for the young jazz ensemble. Nice alto/trumpet unison melody and easy alto solo chord progression. Well-written for all instruments with a nice bass groove and accessible melodies that students enjoy playing. Piano and bass parts are written out and there is an optional vibe part. Level II

MARK THOME, currently a resident of Olympia, Washington is an active composer, arranger and clarinet/saxophone player in the Puget Sound area. He studied composition with Greg Youtz and Ingrahm Marshal and received a Bachelor of Arts in Composition from The Evergreen State College. He is the composer-in-residence for SOGO (Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia). Mark has composed and arranged for a variety of groups including The Evergreen Brass Quintet, The SOGO Brass Choir, SOGO Academy Orchestra, SOGO Conservatory Orchestra, and The Groovin' Higher Jazz Orchestra. Mark writes, arranges and plays Tenor in The Olympia Jazz Senators. He also composed an opera with librettists Rex Stewart and Blair Stewart.
