The "hook" of the piece is in four-part harmony and challenges the sense of time of any group as they must relax repeated quarter note, on-the-beat phrases over and over again. SHARON BROADLEY was the lead vocalist and principal composer/arranger for the Boston-based vocal group, The Ritz. She has performed at the Sea-Jazz Festival in Helsinki, the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada, the Newport Jazz Festival in Madarao, Japan and the Jazz A Vienne Festival with the Count Basie Orchestra in France to name a few. Sharon has recorded six albums: Flying (1989), The Spirit of Christmas (1989), Movin' Up (1988), The Ritz-Live to Two Trac (1987), Born to Bop (1985) and Steppin' Out (1984). She was a featured clinician at the 1985 NAJE Convention in Atlanta, Georgia and has since been adjudicating and preparing fresh, exciting material for clinics around the country.
