(8 Brass) An original up-tempo minor blues with two open solo sections divided by a four chorus sax soli. There is an antiphonal pedal-point section with exciting counterpoint between the saxes, trombones and trumpets. Featured on the 1987 Manhattan School of Music Jazz Orchestra release, Shades of Time, with solo by Steve Turre. Clarinet part may be played on sprano sax.

FRANK GRIFFITH, originally from Oregon, has lived and worked in New York City since 1980. Here he has regularly appeared with such luminaries as Ron Carter, Jon Hendricks, and Jack McDuff. He has also performed with the orchestras of Toshiko Akiyoshi, Mel Lewis and Mel Torme. Frank has recorded with jazz artist John Pizzarelli on his CDs All of Me and Naturally, and with the singers Joe Derise and Joel Grey. He has also arranged and assisted in production for recordings by Loren Schoenberg and Dave Stryker. In addition, Frank has recorded source music for the ABC and AMC networks. As a composer/arranger, Frank has written for the Ron Carter Nonet, the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, the Jon Hendricks Explosion and the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. Frank's own ensembles include the Woodtet, Sextet and the Big Band. These groups have been featured in New York's jazz clubs as well as to audiences in Europe. Frank has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from City College of New York, and a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music. He has been a member of the faculty at CCNY since 1985 and has also taught as MSM.
