Description About the Composer

(Level IV) This fresh and imaginative mixed meter (3/4+4/4) exploration of the Herbie Hancock classic Chameleon creates a dynamic musical landscape. The piece also makes significant use of quartal harmony, angular lines, and creative orchestration, in order to deepen the heavily syncopated funk groove. Alto 1, 2 and Tenor 1 double on flute. Tenor 2 and Bari double on bass clarinet, though an alternate Bari part is provided. 8 Brass
