NEIL YORKE-SLADER is a Superintendent of Instruction with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He taught music at the elementary and secondary levels for 17 years, and is active as a jazz adjudicator and clinician throughout North America. Neil is Director of the internationally-acclaimed Nepean All-City jazz Band, Gold Award winners at Musicfest Canada's National Finals each of the pasty twenty years, and featured performers at IAJE, CMEA and OMEA Conventions. Neil was the 1999 recipient of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival's Achievement Award. He recevied the 1998 City of Nepean's Distinguished Award for Arts and Culture. He is considered one of the leading Canadian authoriities on the teaching of stage band fundamentals and rehearsal techniques.
