This chart is an a cappella ballad with a short piano introduction and a solo verse with piano accompaniment. The piano part is written out, and the chorus has a mixture of octave, 2- and 4-part writing. The jazz chords are arrived at with very smooth linear voice leading. A beautiful thought provoking treatment of this great jazz standard.

JIM McCULLOUGH is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado and Western Michigan University. Jim teaches music and choir in Washington State at Everett High School. He is very active in the promotion of jazz in the Northwest where he co-chairs the Port Gardner Bay Jazz Festival. Jim adjudicates jazz festivals throughout the United States and Canada as well as serving on the staff of the Frank DeMiero Jazz Camp in Edmonds, Washington.
