DAVID THORNE SCOTT is a singer, pianist, arranger, songwriter and teacher in Boston. His CD Shade was chosen as a Top 5 vocal Jazz CD of 2004 (Jazz Education Journal). He primarily sings jazz music but also frequently performs other styles. He teaches at the Berklee College of Music in the Voice Department. David received a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, in English and Music from Drew University. He earned a master's degree in jazz vocal performance under Larry Lapin from the University of Miami. David has shared the stage with Kevin Mahongany, Hal Galper, Cheryl Bentene and Robin McKelle. He has recorded commerical music for Carnival Crusie Lines and the Orange Bowl plus appeared in Gloria Estefan's Reach music video. David is a founding member of the voca jazz quintet Vocalogy which has performed at many jazz festivals. In 2005, Vocalogy released a CD Distilled and in 1999, the group recorded a CD with Phil Mattson of the sacred music of Duke Ellington. David joined Syncopation, a vocal jazz quartet based in Boston in 2006. They have released two CD's and have performed at the Blue Note and the Tanglewood Jazz Festival.
