CHRIS MERZ is the Professor Jazz Studies and Saxophone at the University of Wyoming. Previously he was on the music faculty at the University of Massachusetts, and served three and a half years as a Lecturer in Jazz Studies and Saxophone at the University of Natal in Durban. He has toured extensively with Darius Brubeck, and has performed with Dave Brubeck. His arrangement of Joe Henderson's Isotope won the 1991 downbeat Award for Outstanding College Big Band Arrangement. His newest compact disc, Mystery is My Story, features original compositions for 12-piece jazz ensemble.
