Les Hooper - has won 7 Grammy nominations, Emmy, Clio and film festival
awards. He has had the gift of variety in his musical life - Albums:
Big Band, Hoopla, Virtual, African, Piano Pieces, Orchestral. Movies,
TV Shows, over 90 published pieces of music, hundreds of commercials
and orchestral commissions. His current album, “Out of the Woods” is
available now and another one is in the works.
Les
has lived in 3 distinctly different locations (Baton Rouge, Chicago and
Los Angeles)His influences have ranged from rhythm & blues to
contemporary classical to jazz....etc. Music started early at the age
of 4, and the rest is history. After 7 Grammy nominations, an Emmy, a
Cleo, and some film festival awards his work has taken him into almost
every imaginable venue. Seven albums of his own, numerous TV shows,
many motion pictures and a slew of orchestral commissions and published
jazz pieces, Les has just finished "Damaged" and has done additional
music for Spike Jonze's "Being John Malkovich" and Oliver Stone's "Any
Given Sunday" He has co-written the music to a new Alan Arkin film with
Alan Barcus called "Raisin' Flagg". He has also written some extra
music for "The Player" as well as appering in the film with his big
band.
Les has music published by some of the biggest publishers in the world: UNC Jazz Press,
Sierra, Hal Leonard, C.L. Barnhouse, Alfred, Warner, Kendor, and
Walrus. His jazz big band charts are being played by most college and
high school bands around the world.
