(Level IV) There Will Never Be Another You, arranged by John Yao, is a hard swinging arrangement and was written as a tribute to Jim Warrick of New Trier High School for his retirement concert. Written in the traditional style of the Basie Band, it makes room to feature the piano, trombone, tenor saxophone, and trumpet while also giving the drummer a little room on the shout sections. John Yao is a freelance trombonist, composer, arranger and educator in New York City. He received his B.M. in Jazz Studies from Indiana University and his M.M. in Jazz Perfromance/Composition from Queens College. He has performed with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Afro-Latin All Stars, Paquito D'Rivera, Eddie Palmieri, Danillo Perez, Kurt Elling, Teo Macero, Diego Urcola, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. John has been commisioned to write for various sized ensembles and a wide range of skill levels reanging from beginner to professional.
