(9 Brass) Renovation is a ruckus 7/4 rock piece with a contrasting 3/4 section. This piece features soprano saxophone and trumpet soloists in a modal context.  A section of the piece also allows all wind instruments to collectively improvise.  Both altos double on soprano; both tenors and bari double on clarinet.  Recorded on Renovation (Northern Iowa Jazz Band One).

Ryan Middagh is one of the up and coming composers and arrangers in the jazz scene today.  His music has been performed around the world, receiving commissions from colleges and high schools in both jazz ensemble and wind ensemble writing.  He received a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa before pursuing graduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University.  Residing in Nashville, Ryan is also active as a saxophonist, leading his own octet and playing as a sideman.
