A Bellman Suite (SC-4), by Ward Swingle
(C. M. Bellman) (Level 4) SATB, synth, bass and drums. Carl Michael Bellman, a contemporary of Mozart, was a poet and improviser whose songs were much admired by the Swedish nobility. I have taken three (Fjarlin vingad syns p?• Haga; Drick ur ditt glas: Aldrig en Iris), and arranged them in combinations of pop and jazz styles, with an accompaniment of synthesizer, bass and drums.

A Visit from St. Nicholas (SBS-14), by Ward Swingle
(Moore/Swingle) (Level 3) SSAATTBB a cappella. This setting of Moore's famous poem was originally written for the Swingle Singers and the Canadian Brass. So that my singing group could perform this work in their own concerts, I transcribed the original version into a version for two SATB choirs. One choir sings the melodic setting of Moore's poem while the other gorup sings brief quotations from various carols. The original version has been recorded by the Canadian Brass and the Elmer Iseler Singers on their "Christmas Album."

(G. F. Handel) (Level 4) SATB, bass & drums. Handel wrote variations on this "air," popularly called "The Harmonious Blacksmith." The theme itself is sung a cappella, then each variation gathers in speed and intensity.

All the Things You Are (SS-1), by Ward Swingle
(Jerome Kern) (Level 5) SSAATTBB a cappella. The arrangement of this wonderful Jerome Kern song is in three sections: the beginning is in a free, traditional choral style, then there is some typical "Swingle" scatting, followed by a big-band section. It was recently voted "Favorite Vocal Jazz Chart" by a group of choral directors who specialize in jazz repertoire.

Allegro - Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 4 (GB-9), by Ward Swingle
(G. F. H?§ndel) (Level 3) SSAATTBB, bass and drums. The "Allegro" is from a Concerto Grosso, one of many composed by H?§ndel. There is a string section, three solo parts, a basso continuo and a harpsichord realization. This arrangement really gives the singers a chance to imitate a string orchestra.

Allegro - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (AFM-4), by Ward Swingle
(W. A. Mozart) (Level 3) SATB, bass and drums. This is the first of the four movements of Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nacthmusik," all four of which I have arranged for voices. I hope that groups will perform "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" in its entirety. For the Swingle Singers this offered a change from the succession of 2- or 3-minutes pieces typical of many of our programs.
